Do it Yourself Wedding Invites with the cricut expression?

July 23, 2010

I am getting married next fall and I own a cricut expression. I wanted to try and make some sample invitations and I was wanting some ideas. I need to know what cartridge to use and the layout of some card ideas. Anything anyone can do for me would be so greatly appriciated.

I would try Sure Cuts A Lot software. I bought a copy and I don’t even use my cartridges anymore. With SCAL you can use any font you have on your computer. Which means that if you find a font on Dafont.com or some other free site you can download it and cut it on your Cricut. That alone is worth the price. But now they have a new version that cuts any sort of shape you have as well. It use to be only SVG files but now you can use any sort of shape you have on your computer.

What are all the necessities for wedding invites?

July 17, 2010

you know…
the invitation, rsvp cards…

does the main dish choices go in there (beef, chicken, vegetarian)?

In order of importance ….

The main thing is the invitation itself. Obviously you can’t do without it.

The vast majority of people also order RSVP cards (or response cards). They come with a pre-addressed return envelope. You should put a stamp on it for your guests. The RSVP card can contain menu choices. Make sure to include the reply-by date.

Reception cards are useful in case your reception is not at the same location as your ceremony and it would be too much information to fit on the invitation.

Direction cards or map cards (pretty self explanatory).

Thank you cards. Usually, you can purchase thank you cards that match your invitation.

Further stationery (budget depending of course): menu cards, place cards, save the dates

Has anyone bought custom wedding invites?

July 14, 2010

I can not find the exact type color quality etc. in those big wear house websites. I have seen the custom invites and I’m afraid to make an appointment because of the cost. I’m hoping it will be $800 or less for 50 invites RSVP menus place cards and table tents. NO Programs and NO save the dates. Am I delusional? I’m from California which is probably more expensive.

I actually made my wedding invitations from scratch. I used blank cards and envelopes and bought scrapbooking paper, dried leaves, ribbons and dried rose buds to design them with.

How do I create my own wedding invites?

July 11, 2010

Using Word? Step by step please!

Or is there a good programme that you recommend I use instead?

If you go to Target, Wal-Mart or even to a local craft store, you can find VERY affordable kits that allow you to create and print your own invitations. They come complete with the invitation paper, envelopes and response cards. Look for these kits in the stationary sections.

What size font is standard for wedding invites?

July 6, 2010

We are doing our own wedding invitations.
But I don’t know what the standard font size is for invitations?
If anyone knows I would greatly appreciate it ?
Thanks

Here’s an easy way to figure it out . . draw an outline of the card on computer paper and then put your invitation information in the computer, and then print it out on the sheet of paper. This will give you the opportunity to see what fits, and if the font is too large or too small.

Anyone have any good templates for wedding invites? | wedding invite templates

July 3, 2010

I am having a beach wedding. I will only need about 50 invitations and I would really like to print them myself! Anyone know of any good paper, templates, graphics? I am looking to save money by doing this, so any help at all will be greatly appreciated!

There are many web sites that offer free wedding inviation templates. Do you have Adobe Photoshop or some other design software? Having something like that will definately aid you in making your invitaitons special, unique and at a fraction of the cost.

Also check out your local printing stores. Most of them sell specialty printing paper that comes in an assortment of colors, paterns, and textures.

Where can I find wedding invites that look like our initials are carved in a tree?

June 30, 2010

I have seen some wedding invitations around that look like the initials are carved in a heart on a tree and I would really like to find them.

I’ve seen these before and am in LOVE with them as well. Here are a few places to find them. I hope I gave you a few choices in price as well as aesthetics.

1) http://www.etsy.com/search_results.php?search_query=invites+initials+carved+in+tree&search_type=all
2) http://www.momentaldesigns.com/2008/11/20/inspired-ink-liancarlo-revisited/
3) http://www.swayspace.com/letterpress/ (for this one I love the 3rd from the top and the save the date that is 12th from the bottom.)
4) and here is a couple that did the tree/initial carving for their wedding but did a little twist to it that I really like. Hope this may give you some inspiration:

If you go to wal-mart and buy a invitation package it is about $20-$30 for 50 . So say your making 100 . thats 60 bucks there. Then you have to buy ink so that depending on your printer will $30-$60 bucks for black and color so thats at least another $60 bucks not counting the time you have to spend printing them.
