I need CHEAP Wedding invitations for a lot of people!! help!?
March 5, 2010
I am having a rather large wedding January first…and wedding invites are $$. I am needing REALLY REALLY cheap invites please please help!
I’ll second the idea of doing it yourself. You can get kits with very unique designs and even get invitations with eco-friendly paper. Down side is you have to assemble them but you can throw an assembly party to save time. Try InviteSite.com. Also check out their invitations in the "Sale" area.

Cool. Just diy for $1-2 per invite.
Buy nice cardboard, possibly with some kind of detail on it (a pattern, subtle or colourful depending on how adventurous you are)
Then do the wording on your computer, copying the style of an expensive invitation that you like, and print on nice paper – NOT computer paper. Paper is cheap, ok?!
Make the invitation a simple rectangle (or a square, if you’re willing to hunt for envelopes that fit). Use the cardboard as the base, and stick the text, cut out in a smaller version of the chosen shape, on top.
Finally, buy some kind of little decoration to adhere to either the top centre or bottom centre of the card. For example, a (tasteful) diamonte, or a ribbon you can thread through two holes.
Like I said, it depends on how adventurous you are. If you’re aiming for high class, go for a square shape and paper in cream tones. If you’re a little more fun, you could by cardboard with stripes or in a bright colour. You could even make the invitation in the shape of a heart
This site is exactly what I’m talking about. Take a look at the picture, especially.

Go to a scrapbook supply store – get a pretty background paper, and some vellum. Print your info on the vellum, cut it in a heart (or same shape but smaller than the paper), cut the paper in a square/rectangle, use a 1 hole punch, tie the vellum /paper with a ribbon and one of those penny plastic wedding rings.

There are plenty of very inexpensive invitation websites online. I am surprised you have not found anything to your liking already? I have seen them as cheap as 80 cents per invitation (of course, you also get what you pay for). Seriously, Google is your friend.

Check our YoursTrulyInvites.com. Their a new company so their website is still under construction but if you email them, they will send you samples. My friend used them for her wedding invitations. If you dont like any of their samples, the designers work with you to create a custom invitation specific for your event. I will be using them for my invitations because I like that they provide you with a pdf that you can print yourself at home or take to a print shop to be made. They charged my friend $50 for the custom invite and reply card pdf. I think she paid $80-$90 for all of her stationary (including printing) and she had about 150 guests.

go to
http://www.kodak.com or http://www.snapfish.com
You can make up a photo invitation and pay the per print price which is usually pretty cheap, especially if you are ordering a lot. Probably 50 cents or less. You could even make up your own picture invite with your computer and then just have regular 4×6 prints made up for 12 cents each.
Or, you can get one of those 40% off coupons from Michaels or AC Moore and buy a paper invitation kit and print them out yourself. The really plain white ones are the cheapest. You can add ribbon to dress them up if you want.

just make sure the mailing set does not exceed the 44 cent stamp and that will save you 20 + cents per stamp you will need….

The most expensive part of an invitation is not the invitation itself. It’s the postage! I would suggest making your own invitations. I bought kits from Staples.com for mine. It came with the invitations, response cards and all the envelopes for both. I printed out my invitations using Microsoft Word and font Monotype Corsiva. For wording, I did look up various invitation websites because they all have examples and I used what I thought was best. Any additional items I put in the invitations, like directions, hotel information, and things to do in the area (since many guests were coming from out of town), I printed on regular computer paper. Nobody knew it was just a kit and people were shocked to hear I printed them myself! Anyway, I took them to the post office and had one weighed and it was within a fraction of an ounce of what I wanted! I was able to use a regular stamp to mail it! Most invitations that you order will cost you more money to mail. Watch the weight of what you get!
