The term -digital paper- is taking on a meaning of its own. Different circles will interpret this term according to their daily use and experiences. Digital paper commonly refers to e-communication, e-contracts, etc — basically a document in its digital format instead of a physical printed copy. In the world of paper and printing we are starting to transform our thoughts to adapt with the new era of digital printers.

Digital printing is a wonderful form of printing on a larger format paper, producing optimal results and lower costs. Cost is reduced since there is less waste and less setup time. A common paper used for digital print is the ARCH originated, 12×18 sheet. This paper size is a great choice for producing a poster size output or large sheet being cut down to unique dimensions.

Originating from the ARCH paper grid sizing, which was used for architectural purposes, the 12×18 sheet has become a popular paper size for digital printing. Additionally, in years past, many small offset presses would use 12×18 to create an 11×17, full-bleed print out. Pressmen can print to the extent of the margins and trimming down to 11×17 with the final result producing a full-bleed (print to edge) poster, flyer, etc. Since digital printers accept varying, yet limited sizes –some not smaller than 7 inch square up to 14-in x 20-in — This size constrain is another reason for making the 12 x 18 paper such a popular choice for digital press runs.

The print industry is surrounded with companies manufacturing digital presses. Some of these top names are also printer manufactures for inkjet, Laser, wax base and thermal printing. Who do you trust and how do you know which one or whether you should buy a digital printer.

Shimmer digital paper, colors and glossy white. This is just a few of the options one has when choosing the paper for their project.

Before you buy a digital printer, check out the digital paper options available, and find other for creative projects

These little pouches have been around for ages, and today this ancient invention is so ubiquitous that we do not always see its importance. They require simple materials to create, and their designs are quite easily copied. Furthermore, they are easy to construct. Custom final additions are another fun way to personalize your envelopes. Many “crafty” people like to make their own cards, but for an even more personal touch, make the envelope too.

The first envelopes were devised long before paper. Woven materials or skins securely sealed, managed and protected smaller valuables for storage or transport. We use them in nearly identical ways today, though most are made of paper now.

In some designs, all you need to make an envelope is paper, but most will use glue. You can also choose a different material or fabric. Paper comes in a good assortment of colors, weights, textures, and parent materials. Templates are used to ease design and construction and can be designed or copied from other envelopes or obtained from a commercial source.

To build your envelope, lay a template over the paper and lightly trace the outline of the template. Cut out the pattern using scissors or another suitable tool. Fold and glue the envelope according to the template.

To finish, you might want to add a few of your own touches to lend extra warmth and personality. Your recipient will certainly appreciate the extra care. Use your imagination and ribbons, string, stickers, artwork or charms. Beware — you might want to avoid adding anything that could protrude or otherwise mess up the sorting equipment at the post office.

There is wide interest in paper-craft of all kinds, with many people sending handmade cards and letters. Often, the recipients of such gifts get a heightened feeling of connection with the sender. The same should apply to the envelopes used. A handmade or custom envelop could really augment that intimate handmade touch.

If you do lots of mailings, getting the perfect size envelopes at an economical price can be a costly exercise. You can locate specialty products such as jumbo envelopes when you shop online.
